Corporal Daphne Verrill Brown (Service No:99725) enlisted in the RAAF on 25 May 1942 and was attached to 5 Personnel Depot (Staff) when she was Discharged on 12 October 1945.

Born in 1914 in South Perth WA, Daphne was the third of four children of Francis Verrill Brown (b1872 in Lancashire, England) and Margaret (Amy) Amybell Kennedy (b1877 in Dublin, Ireland). Francis served a five year apprenticeship with Lambert & Holt Ltd (Engineering Department) in Liverpool, England and was an Assistant Engineer on board the Damascus when it arrived in Sydney NSW in 1898. In 1904 Francis and Amy married in Surrey, England and Francis was a Consulting Electrical and Mechanical Engineer in Manchester when he and his family immigrated  to WA in 1911. The family settled in Perth where Francis worked as a Mechanical/Electrical Engineer.

Daphne was a Nursing Assistant before enlisting in the RAAF. In 1945 in Perth WA she married Alwyn (Archie) George Crack (nee Winsor; b1917 in Ravensthorpe, WA) - Archie served as a Private in WWII. Daphne and Archie settled in South Perth where Archie worked as a Carpenter and then in Fremantle where Archie was a Plant Operator and Refinery Foreman at BP Kwinana Oil Refinery. Archie died in 1972 and Daphne in 1994.
