SOLDIER DIES IN FRANCE
After having been released by Gernany, where he was a prisoner of war for a few months, 5813, Private Donald Cleveland McNell of the 22nd Battalion, died of pneumonic influenza in a French hospital on November 28. He at one time was a "Herald" messenger. Enlisting with the Veterinary Corps, he was transferred to the Infantry, and sailed on October 2, 1916. He was taken prisoner in August, and was returned to France through Switzerland. His parents live at 159 Flemington road, North Melbourne.
