Resting at Sandgate Cemetery.
86 years ago today, on the Saturday afternoon of the 25th November 1933, Sergeant Harold George Thompson, 35th Battalion, junior porter from Bibby Street, Hamilton, New South Wales and Adamstown, N.S.W., father of one, was laid to rest at Sandgate Cemetery, age 34. CATHOLIC 2-34. 29.

Born at Helensburgh, New South Wales 1899 to Edward James and Emily M G Thompson; husband of Doris C Thompson nee Howarth (married 1923, died?), Harold enlisted January 1916 at Newcastle, N.S.W.

Mr Thompson returned home February 1919.
His name has been inscribed on the Hamilton (Gregson Park) War Memorial (Panel 3, unveiled on the 20th May 1922) and the Hamilton Municipal District Roll of Honor. Name not inscribed on the Railways and Tramways Roll of Honour, 1914-1919.
Service record states that Harold died after discharge (red pencil), and was granted a Commonwealth War Graves headstone.
