Leo St Clare Grondona, born 12 August 1890, Hawthorn, Victoria, RC. 25, Single, Journalist', St Ives', Grandview Grove, Armadale, Victoria. Next of Kin, Mother, Mrs Margaret Grondona, C/o Messrs Hamilton, Wynne & Riddell, Solicitors, 421 Collins Street, Melbourne, Victoria. Previous service 2 Years, Xavier College Cadets. 7 June 1915 applied to join the AIF. Appointed as 2nd Lieutenant on 8 November 1915 and allocated to 15th Reinforcements, 5th Battalion. 22nd Depot Battalion, 1 September 1915, 2nd Lieutenant. Promoted Lieutenant 1 May 1916 and transferred to 39th Battalion. 25 February 1917 received gunshot wounds to both legs. Embarked at Avonmouth on 3 July 1917 and returned to Australia on 24 August 1917. Appointment terminated 7 November 1917.
