Ronald was the fourth of five children of Henry George Ford (b1887 in Redfern, NSW) and Phyllis Ethel Cox (b1888 in Camden, NSW). Henry (a Storeman) and Phyllis married in 1910 in Sydney, NSW where they settled and raised their family.
Ronald was an Apprentice Sign Writer and Coach Painter with the NSW Government Railways when he enlisted in the RAAF in September 1942 (Aircraftman I; Service No:136574). He was a Leading Aircraftman attached to 3 RAAF Hospital when he was Discharged in December 1945. Brothers Eric Walter (Service No:33201), John Henry (Service No:N81804) and Mervyn George (Service No:64478) also served in WWII.
Ronald was working as a Coach Painter in Sydney NSW in 1950 when he married June Imilda Brady (b1924 in Sydney, NSW). June - a Typist - had also served with the RAAF (Service No:109987). Ronald and June settled in Sydney, where he worked as a Coach Painter until his death in 1983. June died in 2016.
