Son of Stephen and Jane Martin of  High Street, Taree, NSW. Brother of Norman Lee Martin who returned to Australia on 30 January 1918 having served with the 3rd Battalion and Clarence William Martin who returned to Australia on the 23 June 1919 having served with the 54th Battalion
