Add my storyBiography contributed by Gillian Brown
Robert Gardiner Brown was my dad. When asked about serving in the war he said very little. However one night when we were out to dinner as a family, he made us laugh with stories of being the Commanding Officer to which we were initially impressed, until he said well there was only me and the other bloke and he was on leave.
He told us he had a very important mission when he arrived on an island ... to fix a local woman's sewing machine.
My dad loved a laugh and making people happy. He was kind and loving but had his own demons perhaps brought on by his time in service but we will never know.
