Dorothy was the fourth of eleven children of Victor Arnold Stuart Fraser (b1897 in Railton, Tasmania) and Eileen Elizabeth Barker (b1901 in Penguin, Tasmania). Victor (a Butcher's Assistant) and Eileen married in 1921 in Rocky Cape, Tasmania. They lived in Burnie, Wynyard and Stanley where Victor was a Butcher. By 1936 the family was living in Devonport where Victor was a Labourer,

In 1943 Dorothy enlisted in the RAAF and was an Aircraftwoman (Service No:112029) attached to 6 Recruit Centre when she was Discharged in February 1945. In 1946 in Newcastle, NSW Dorothy married Bernard Arnold Betts (b1924 in Tamworth, NSW) - Bernard had also served in the RAAF (Leading Aircraftman; Service No:74889) and worked as a Clerk.

Dorothy and Bernard settled in Newcastle NSW where Bernard worked as a Clerk. Dorothy died in 1972 and Bernard in 1975.
