Flight Sergeant William Jesse Louis Barlow (Service No:16199) enlisted in the RAAF on 15 April 1940 at No 4 Recruiting Centre Perth as an Aircraftman I attached to Operational Base Unit (OBU) Albany. Promoted to Flight Sergeant by 1944 - mustered as Guard - he served with 4 Stores Depot Maylands and 144 Radar Station Subiaco. Flight Sergeant Barlow served in Nadzab and Hoemfor from September 1944 with No 11 Repair and Service Unit (RSU), and in Morotai and Labuan (13 April 1945 - 28 September 1945) with Airfield Defence Squadron and 80 Wing HQ. Flight Sergeant Barlow was attached to 3 Reserve Personnel Pool at Discharge on 16 November 1945.

William Jesse Louis Unicume was born in Kent, England in 1910, fifth of six chidren of Frank Harold Unicume (b1875 in Kent, England) and Emily Jane Wildish (b1876 in Kent, England). Frank (a Farm Labourer) and Emliy married in 1898 in Cranbrook in Kent, where they settled and raised their family and Frank worked as a Railway Platelayer. In 1914 Emily immigrated with her six children (Frank remained in England), arriving in Adelaide, South Australia on board the Borda. By 1919 Emily and her children had moved to Western Australia, where they settled in Perth and by 1925 Emily was living with Lambert (Bill) Stace Molyneaux Barlow (b1878 in Bengal, India) - Bill had separated from his wife. Emily and Bill settled in Perth, where Bill was a Labourer.

Jesse (with his older brother Les, adopted the surname 'Barlow') worked in Perth, at Mahogany Creek in Mundaring and in Chittering as a Labourer/General Hand, and in the late 1930s was a Rabbit Seller and Orchard Hand in Perth. In 1940 when he enlisted in the RAAF, Jesse gave his ocupation as Motor Driver. In 1941 Jesse married Thelma Mavis Tonkin (b1917 in Carnarvon, Western Australia) - Thelma was a Ledgerkeeper in Carnarvon. Following his Discharge from the RAAF, Jesse and Thelma settled in Carnarvon, where Jesse worked as a Shop Assistant. The couple divorced in 1954, and in the late 1950s Jesse returned to Perth, where he worked as a Shop Assistant before retiring to Mandurah. Jesse was in Jurien Bay when he died in 2002.
