Leading Aircraftman Oswald Alfred Rollason (Service No:20291) enlisted in the RAAF on 28 November 1940, initially as an Aircraftman I (Mustered as a Mess Steward and later remustered as Cook). On 1 July 1941 he was promoted to Leading Aircraftman and served with No 1 Bombing and Air Gunnery School (BAGS), 24 and 1 Squadrons and was in the Northern Territory (18 December 1942 - 24 April 1944 and 26 October 1944 - 26 July 1945). LAC Rollason was attached to 2 Reserve Personnel Pool at Discharge on 14 December 1945.
Born in 1914 in Dandenong in Melbourne Victoria, Oswald was the youngest of two children of Walter Alfred Rollason (b1881 in Maldon, Victoria) and Mary Ann Connell (b1878 in Melbourne, Victoria). Walter (a Labourer) and Mary married in Melbourne in 1918 and settled there - Walter worked as a Labourer.
Oswald worked as a Waiter at Dookie Agricultural College at Benalla in Victoria before moving to Sydney NSW where he was working at the Ritz Hotel as a Waiter and Pantryman in 1940 when he enlisted in the RAAF. In 1942 in Sydney NSW, Oswald married Wilhelmina (Wilma) Mary Norris (b1914 in Melbourne, Victoria). Following his Discharge, Oswald and Wilma settled in Sydney where Oswald worked as a Clerk and Storeman. Oswald died in 1990 and Wilma in 1998.
