Youngest of the four siblings (David, Walter, irene and William) who served in WWII, Leading Aircraftman William Charles Fisher (Service No:145446) enlisted in the RAAF at No 1 Recruiting Centre Melbourne on 11 November 1943 as an Aircraftman I - mustered as Trainee Technical, re mustered as Cook's Assistant. Promoted to Leading Aircraftman on 5 July 1944, LAC Fisher served overseas from 16 January 1945 to 20 November 1945 with 164 Radar Station and was attached to 352 Radar Station at Discharge on 7 February 1946.

Private Fisher (Service No:4572) enlisted in the Army on 13 January 1951, and in October 1952 was WiA (shrapnel) in Korea. Private Fisher served with 3rd Battalion RAR, and was Discharged on 6 December 1952 (Totally and Permanently Incapcitated - TPI).

Bill was born in Sunbury, Victoria in 1925, fifth of nine children of Alfred (Alf) Joseph Fisher (b1892 in Narrandera, New South Wales) and Veronica Ellen Falvey (b1899 at Riddells Creek in Victoria). Alf was a Labourer in Narrandera when he enlisted in the AIF on 11 April 1917 (Private; Service No:794), and he and Veronica married in Sunbury, Victoria on 29 September 1917. Following his Discharge from the Army, Alf and Veronica settled in Sunbury, where they raised their family and Alf worked as a Labourer and later as a Mental Asylum Attendant.

Bill was in Melbourne working as a Stable Hand for E J Wilmott in Mentone when he enlisted in the RAAF in 1943. In 1944 in Parkside, South Australia Bill married Linda May Spear (b1922 in Daly, South Australia). Following his Discharge from the RAAF, Bill and Linda settled in Plympton, where Bill worked as a Stonemason until he enlisted in the Army in 1951. WiA in Korea, Bill returned to South Australia, and he and Linda moved to Salisbury where Bill worked at the Weapons Research Facility as part of his rehabilitation and assessment - classified TPI. Bill and Linda settled in Salisbury, where they raised their family and Bill was an accomplished Weaver. Bill became a member of the Adelaide Harriers and was a Coach for Salisbury West Football Club (AFL). Bill died in 1999 and Linda in 2012.
