Biography contributed by Pauline Kitson

From SA Cricketing Site.
Our list of SACUSA ANZACS is growing as we uncover more service personnel within the Association history that is being researched. Today we acknowledge the WW1 contribution of Sheffield Shield umpire, Eugene Henry Kitson, a son of an esteemed Adelaide police detective. Eugene began his cricketing career with #AdelaideCricketClub during the 1906/07 season. In 1907 he suffered an awful injury at work that resulted in two of his fingers being amputated. That didn't exclude him from representing SA, though, in 1912/13. In 1914 he signed up to fight in the Great War, and was appointed to the 4th Field Ambulance, seeing action at Gallipoli and Dardanelles. In 1916, after suffering shrapnel and gun shot wounds to both knees, Eugene was invalided back to Australia. Thanks for your efforts, Eugene ...
