Biography contributed by Chris Buckley

Flying Officer Henry Bernard Fisher (Service No:266052) initially served in the Militia and Cadets (Service No:57217) prior to enlisting in the RAAF on 8 June 1942 as a Trainee Officer (Cypher) attending the School of Administration and No 1 Bombing and Air Gunnery School (BaGS). Promoted to Pilot Officer on 11 July 1942 and to Flying Officer on 11 January 1943, he served with 11 Repair and Salvage Unit, RAAF Station Ascot Vale, No 1 Operational Training Unit (OTU) and No 1 Elementary Flying Training School (EFTS). Flying Officer Fisher was attached to 11 Stores Depot at Discharge on 23 November 1945.

Born in 1905 in Brisbane QLD, Harry was eldest of four children of Albert Cornelius Fisher (b1876 in Braidwood, NSW) and Lily May Plowright (b1883 in Bombala, NSW). Albert (a Cutter) and Lily married in 1903 in Sydney, NSW and moved to QLD where they lived in Brisbane and Stanthorpe - where Albert worked as a Cutter and Tailor - before returning to Sydney.

Harry completed his education through a scholarship to Sydney Grammar Schhol, and served in the Cadets and Militia in Sydney. He was a Wool Buyer in Sydney in 1932 when he married Phyllis Edith Pearce (b1906 in Sydney, NSW). Harry and Phyllis settled in Bronte, Sydney, NSW where Harry was a Wool Appraiser - work Harry returned to following his Discharge in 1945. Harry and Phyllis had divorced by 1954, and in 1957 in Newcastle NSW, Harry remarried to Beryl Valerie Sawyer. Harry and Beryl settled in Sydney where Harry was a Wool Appraiser until his death in 1967. Beryl died in 1985.
