His brother 5010 Pte Henri Wilhelm Erickson 23rd Battalion AIF, was killed in action on 3 October 1917 in Belgium aged 41 years. Another brother, 1788 Pte Carl Leander Erickson served with the 58th Battalion and returned to Australia with illness in 1916. They were the sons of Carl and Wilhelmina Erickson of South Melbourne, Victoria. The father, Carl Erickson was born in Finland and came to Australia in about 1869.
