Leading Aircraftman Clement George Brunner (Service No:150955) enlisted in the RAAF on 26 November 1943 at No 3 Recruiting Centre Brisbane as an Aircraftman I - mustered as General Hand. Promoted to Leading Aircraftman on 1 July 1944, LAC Brunner served with No 80 Squadron in Morotai and Tarakan in 1945, and was attached to 80 Squadron at Discharge on 23 January 1946.

Clem was born in Toowoomba, QLD in 1925, third of eight children of Frederick (Fred) Johann Brunner (b1900 in Toowoomba, QLD) and Hilda Mary Andrews (b1901 in Toowoomba, QLD). Fred and Hilda married in 1922 in Toowoomba, where they settled and raised their family and Fred worked as a Moulder. In the mid 1920s the family moved to Enoggera in Brisbane for a short time, and Fred worked as a Carter before returning to Toowoomba in 1930 - Fred worked as a Carter and Labourer.

Clem started work as a Farm Hand, and was Butcher with Darling Downs Bacon Factory in 1942 when he enlisted in the RAAF. In 1944 in Toowoomba he married June Caroline Crane (b1967 in Toowoomba, QLD). Clem and June settled in Toowoomba where they raised their family and Clem worked as a Night Watchman and then Bootmaker. Clem was active in local sports, coaching junior football and in 1953 formed the South Toowoomba Boxing Club, serving as President and delegate to the QLD Amateur Boxing and Wrestling Union. Clem stated 'It is our endeavour to foster local boxing talent and provide the youth of Toowoomba with healthy exercise combined with the art of self defence' (Trove; 20 June 1953). Clem died in 1979 and June in 2012.
