Son of John Richard Uren and Rhoda Ann Uren nee Tape of Lyrup, SA.
Next of kin given as his brother Bertram Harold Uren of Warooka, SA.
13 August 1915 - enlisted at Adelaide, SA, with the 27th Battalion and with the rank of Private.
6 April 1916 - transferred to the 32nd Battalion
28 April 1916 - promoted to Driver but later revert to Private
12 May 1918 - commenced return to Australia aboard HT Ruahine disembarking on 5 July 1918
Medals: British War Medal, Victory Medal
16 August 1918 - discharged at the 4th Military District as medically unfit due to tuberculosis.
On 13 August 1919 Rupert married Grace Mary Hickman at the residence of George Joseph Johncock, Edithburgh, SA.
