Olivia enlisted as a Staff Nurse with the Australian Army Nursing Service and embarked from Sydney on 16.10.1918 per "Malta". Saw service in India. Dangerously ill with Paratyphiod and Malaria September 1919. Returned to Australia on 1.1.2.1919 per “Medic” and was Discharged on 8.5.1921 (medical discharge). Medal: British War Medal.
In 1923 Olivia married John Joseph Ryan.
