Wesley was the second of eight children of Adolph Henry Meyer (b1889 in Sydney, NSW) and Jessie Florence Gray (b1886 in Melbourne, Victoria). Adolph (a Labourer) and Jessie married in 1908 in Sydney, NSW. Adolph worked as a Boilermaker's Labourer and a Dock Labourer before moving his family to Jarrahdale, WA by early 1916. Adolph was a Greaser/Mill Hand in Jarrahdale WA when he enlisted briefly in the AIF (Private; Service No:4089) from March to April 1916 - he was Discharged as Medically Unfit. By 1931 Adolph and Jessie moved to Carlisle in Perth, WA where Adolph was a Labourer.

Wesley was working as a Miner in Wiluna, WA and in 1935 married Marcia Grace Reid (b1913 in Boulder, WA). The couple settled in Wiluna WA where Wesley worked as Miner and Underground Storeman for Wiluna Mines. 

Wesley had served in the Militia with 13th Field Engineers and in March 1941 he enlisted in the RAAF and moved his family to Perth WA. Wesley was an Aircraftman I to Sergeant and worked as a Survey Photographer (Service No:38174). He was with 21 Squadron in Morotai from 12 April 1945 to 20 May 1945 and was Discharged in February 1946.

By 1949 Wesley and his family had settled in Bunbury WA where Wesley worked as a Photographer. Wesley died in 1984 and Marcia in 2008.
