Leading Aircraftman Raymond Reginald Parks (Service No:53794) enlisted in the RAAF on 10 April 1942 as an Aircraftman I at No I Recruiting Centre Melbourne - mustered as Trainee Electrician, later re-mustered as Elecirican and Electrical Fitter. LAC Parks was attached to 102 Squadron at Discharge on 17 December 1945. Brother John (Flying Officer; Service No:419212) and sister Joan (Bombardier: Service No:VF388669) also served in WWII.

Ray was born in Melbourne, Victoria in 1914, third of four children of John (Jack) McAlpine Parks (b1890 in Horsham, Victoria) and Emily Ruby Sallery (b1891 in Melbourne, Victoria). Jack (a Hairdresser) and Emily married in 1910 in Melbourne, where they settled and  raised their family, and Jack was a Hairdresser.

Ray attended Glenferrie and Melbourne High Schools before studying at Melbourne Technical College. He worked in Melbourne as a Rubber Worker, and in 1940 was a Foreman (Electrode Maker) when he married Muriel Ellen Mary Jordan (b1916 in Canterbury, New Zealand) - Muriel was a Nurse in Melbourne. Following his Discharge, Ray and Muriel settled in Melbourne, where they raised their family and Ray started with the Postmaster Generals Department as a Technician in Training before becoming a Telephone Technician. Ray died in 2013.
