Enlisting in the RAAF with his older brother Jack on 17 April 1941 at No 3 Recruiting Centre Brisbane, Flying Officer Victor Lewis Drouyn (Service No:25494) was initially an Aircraftman I - mustered as Storekeeper. On 14 April 1943 he embarked from Sydney for Halifax, Canada and attachment to the RCAF. Granted a Commission on 12 November 1943, Pilot Officer Drouyn embarked from Canada for England and attachment to the RAF on 20 January 1944. Promoted to Flying Officer on 12 May 1944,  he flew Avro Anson, Tiger Moth, Cessna Crane (Cessna AT-17 Bobcat), Bristol Bolingbroke, Lancaster, Wellington and Stirling aicraft. On 28 June 1945 Flying Officer Drouyn embarked from England for Brisbane, and was attached to 467 Squadron at Termination of his Commission on 16 October 1945.

Vic was born in Brisbane, QLD in 1914, second of three children of William John Drouyn (b1879 in Brisbane, QLD) and Eileen Mabel Tutty (b1889 in Sydney, New South Wales). William and Eileen married in 1912 in Brisbane, where they settled and raised their family. William worked as a Compositor, Secretary and Commercial Traveller, and in 1934 (a year before his death) became a Wine Saloonkeeper (Waratah Wine Depot/Cafe).

Vic was a member of the Royal QLD Yacht Club, and worked as a Salesman and Shop Assistant in Southport. In  1941 he was a Commercial Traveller in Brisbane when he enlisted in the RAAF, and in 1943 in Surat married Gwendoline (Gwen) Mary Simpson (b1915 in Surat, QLD) - Gwen was working in Surat as a Bookkeeper. Following his Discharge from the RAAF, Vic and Gwen lived in Surat, where Vic was a Draper, before settling in Surfers' Paradise on the Gold Coast in 1954. Vic and Gwen raised their family in Surfers' Paradise, where Vic was a Draper, and active in his local community, including as a Committee Member of the Surf Life Savers' Club. Gwen died in 1993 and Vic in 2009.
