Flt Sgt Fairclough of No. 51 Squadron, was shot down following a bombing run over Tergnier France. He was hidden by the Resistance prior to being captured near Beauvais. He was taken to Fresnes prison, Paris, after being captured by the Gestapo and later taken to Buchenwald Concentration Camp, Germany, where he spent approximately six weeks before being transferred to a Prisoner of War (POW) Camp, with other Allied airmen.
