Son of Ralph Hush and Susan Hughes formerly Hush of Araluen, NSW formerly of Young, NSW.
Brother of Thomas Hush who was killed in action on 18 November 1917 while serving with the 9th Machine Gun Company and has no known grave. His name appears on Panel 31, Menin Gate, Ypres and Percy Alfred Hush who was killed in action on 29 May 1917 while serving with the 35th Battalion and is buried in the Strand Military Cemetery, Plot 1, Row D, Grave 10
Husband of Amelia Hush nee Flynn of Bungendore, NSW. Joseph and Amelia married during 1910c in Young, NSW.
Commenced return to Australia on 23 June 1919 aboard HT Orita disembarking on 9 August 1919.
