Aircraftwoman Fay Marion Shipley (Service No:176765) served in the WRAAF from 30 March 1944 to 12 February 1946 - mustered as a Clerk/Stores.
Fay was born in 1925 in Sydney NSW, eldest of two children of Adolph John Shipley (b1902 in Sydney, NSW) and Grace Marion Hyem (b1902 in Bathurst, NSW). Adolf (a Carter) and Grace married in 1924 in Burrowa, NSW and settled in Sydney where they raised their family and Adolph was a Carter until their Divorce in the 1940s.
Following Fay's Discharge from the RAAF, in 1946 in Sydney, NSW she married Leo Joseph Peek (b1919 in Wellington nr Dubbo, NSW) - Leo served in the AIF (Private; Service No:NX170773). Fay and Leo settled in Sydney where Leo was a Railways Employee until his death in 1951. Fay remarried in 1954 to James Barr Hastings (b1909 in Edinburgh, Scotland) - James, a Widow, had served in WWII. He immigrated with his parents and siblings in 1927, arriving in Brisbane, QLD on board the Orvieto and settling in Mackay, QLD. Fay and James settled in Sydny where James was a Labourer and Cleaner until his death in 1985. Fay was in Tweed Heads, NSW when she died in 2018.
