Leading Aircraftman John Medwick Mollison (Service No:120130) initially served in the Air Force Cadets (No 1 Wing 14 Squadron) before enlisting in the RAAF as an Aircraftman I at No 1 Recruiting Centre Melbourne on 26 October 1942 - having previously completed an Operator's Course at the Marconi School of Wireless - he was mustered as Trainee Radion Operator. LAC Mollison was attached to Radar Stations at Mascot and Richmond and from October 1943 to March 1945 served at Radar Stations in New Guinea and Yule Island. LAC Mollison was attached to 1 Stores Depot at Discharge on 26 January 1946. Brother Graham served in the AIF in WWII, and Uncle John Alexander Mollison also served in the RAAF in WWI. LAC Mollison's father (George - and three Uncles - Arthur, Cecil and David - also served in WWI.
Jack was born in Melbourne, Victoria in 1924, eldest of three children of George (Mac) Medwick Mollison (b1893 at Numurkah, Victoria) and Florence (Florrie) Emily Mary Holt (b1894 in Bacchus Marsh, Victoria). Mac served in WWI and was severely injured at the Dardanelles. He worked as a Bootmaker before his enlistment and, following vocational training, worked as a Liftman the rest of his life. Mack and Florrie married in Melbourne in 1925 and settled in Melbourne where they raised their family and Mac was a Liftman and published Poet.
Jack was working as an Electrician's Assistant for May-Otway Fire Alarms Pty Ltd in Melbourne when he enlisted in the RAAF. He settled in Melbourne following his Discharge, and was working as a Technician in 1948 when he married his first wife Olive Pearl DeSauty (b1924 in Kilmore, Victoria). Jack joined the Victoria Police Force as a Constable and worked in Melbourne - he and Olive Divorced in the late 1960s and Jack lived with his parents until their deaths. Promoted to Sergant, Jack remarried in 1985 - to Mary (Maggie) Margaret Olive Kleeman (nee Ward; b1924 in Kilmore, Victoria). They settled in Melbourne, where Jack died in 1991 - Maggie died in 2021.
