Robert was the youngest of four children of William Robert Robinson (b1888 in Brisbane, QLD) and Charlotte Sarah Holland (b1885 in Ipswich, QLD). William (an Engine Driver) and Charlotte married in 1910 in Brisbane, QLD. They settled in Allora on the Darling Downs, QLD where William was an Engine Driver. He served in the AIF (Trooper; Service No:2303) in WWI. After the War, William and Charlotte settled in Ipswich where William was an Engine Driver and Engineer.

Robert was a Carpenter in 1941 when he married Christine Marguerite Kerslake (b1921 in Sandgate, QLD). Robert and Christine were living in Brisbane when he enlisted in the RAAF in June 1944. Robert was a Leading Aircraftman (Service No:441248) attached to 3 Stores Depot when he was Discharged in  February 1946.

Following his Discharge, Robert and Charlotte settled in Ipswich, QLD where Robert worked as a Coach Builder. In the early 1960s they moved to Fitzroy, QLD where Robert worked as an Inspector of Scaffolding until 1970 when they returned to Brisbane. Robert worked as an Inspector until his retirement. Charlotte died in 1990 and Robert in 2015.
