Obituary – Joseph Carter
After an illness spread over many months, Mr. Joseph Carter of Busselton, passed away at the Woorooloo Sanatorium Saturday last. Deceased, who had resided here for over a quarter of a century, fell ill some years ago, and although his condition improved for brief periods, his health was ever a cause for anxiety. Of late he was wholly an invalid.
In his younger days Mr. Carter was one of the district's most conspicuous cricketers, and played with Busselton and Yallingup clubs. He enlisted and served overseas in the Great War, and was a member of the Returned Soldiers League, as well as the Busselton Wharf Laborers Union. When death claimed him, he was in his 47th year.
Mr. Carter leaves a widow and three young children, for whom the greatest sympathy is felt. The funeral took place on Tuesday 1 last week, when the remains were laid to rest in the Anglican portion of the Karrakatta cemetery, in the presence of relations and friends.
