Born in Belmont, Perth WA, Allan was the tenth of fourteen children of Trevallian (Walter) Henry Griffin (b1877 in Dunedin, New Zealand) and Ada Frances Towton (b1889 in Perth, WA). Walter arrived in Victoria in the 1880s with his parents and siblings, and by 1904 was a Horse Trainer in Kalgoorlie, WA. Ada was the daughter of well known Horse Trainer, Breeder and Jockey - George Towton - who had Stables at Belmont in Perth, WA.
Allan was working at Rivervale in Perth WA in April 1944 when he enlisted in the RAAF (Leading Aircraftman; Service No:84627). He was attached to 8 Transport and Movement Office when he was Discharged in April 1946. Brothers Ronald, Walter, Henry, Edwin and Herbert also served in WWII.
Settling in Perth WA, Allan was working as a Plasterboard Fixer in 1948 when he married Emily Mary Rova (b1930 in Kalgoorlie, WA). Allan and Emily settled in Rivervale, Perth where Allan was a Plasterboard Fixer. He died in 1999 and Emily in 2019.
