The Minmi Roll of Honour has 79 names inscribed of those who returned home from The Great War.
The 59th name inscribed is Private John Scott.
On the 11th December 1965, the ashes were cremated at Eastern Suburbs Memorial Park Cemetery and Crematorium, N.S.W. of Private John Scott, referred to as Jack, 34th Battalion (Reg No-2151), baker (Mr. T. Knott, Minmi), from School Hill, Minmi, New South Wales and Rosebery, N.S.W., age 68 years 8 months. Ashes interred Eastern Suburbs Memorial Park Cemetery and Crematorium, N.S.W., date unknown. Location of Ashes - Eastern Drive Walls, Wall G, Position 0143.

Born at Minmi, New South Wales on the 2nd April 1897 to Robert, died 15.8.1899, Minmi, N.S.W., age 34, father of 3, buried at Minmi Cemetery, N.S.W., Right Hand Side, Section 28, Plot 031, from School Hill, Minmi, N.S.W., and Jane Scott nee Hindman, re-married to Henry Nelson, 1901, Minmi, N.S.W., Henry died 14.5.1927, age 78, buried at Minmi Cemetery, N.S.W., Left Hand Side, Section 26, Plot 012, Jane died 4.10.1939, Wallsend Hospital, N.S.W., age 66, mother of 5 sons and 4 daughters, sleeping at Minmi Cemetery, N.S.W., Left Hand Side, Section 26, Plot 012, from School Hill, Minmi, N.S.W.
Jack enlisted on the 18th March 1916, age 18 years 11 months, at Newcastle, N.S.W.
Unit embarked from Sydney, New South Wales on board HMAT A68 Anchises on the 24th August 1916.
Disembarked Devonport, England 11.10.1916.
Proceeded O/Seas to France from Southampton, England 20.12.1916.
Taken on Strength 34th Battalion 18.1.1917.
Wounded in action - 7.6.1917 (GSW legs, hand & shoulder, severe, Battle of Messines), 14.6.1918 (mustard gas).
Granted furlough in England from 6.8.1917 to 20.8.1917 and 5.8.1918 to 19.8.1918.
Commenced return to Australia 8.1.1919.
Jack arrived home invalided on the 20th February 1919, being discharged medically unfit on the 10th April 1919.
Mr. Scott’s name has also been inscribed on the Minmi St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church Roll of Honour.
