I never met Maurice as he had moved to NSW before I was born in 1949.

Maurice married Catherine Leacy in Sydney in 1945. They had 2 sons Peter 1949-2009 and Robert 1951.

From my family tree research. Maurice & Catherine lived at the Story Bridge Hotel Kangaroo Point Sydney. they divorced and Maurice was with his second wife Mary for many years until his death in 2005.

During my research, I cold called some McCormick’s about 2021 and happened upon Mary, Maurice’s second wife!

She was in her mid- late 90’s and as she didn’t know me, I didn’t pressure her, by asking too many questions.

She told me that Maurice had two sons from his first marriage and they lived in Queensland. Peter & Robert and Peter had passed away several years ago.

I did post a letter to Mary with a photo of my mum and a self-address return A4 envelope. “But never got a reply”

It was at this time I found Peter John McCormick had been in the Army number 1736157.
It looks to me he may have been conscripted, with birth date 3 February 1949?

I found second son Robert on face book in Feb-Mar 2026, but he didn’t seem too interested in helping with his soldier father & brother’s history. He would never have heard of me, as I didn’t know about them. “Which is ok”.
