Leading Aircraftman James Joseph Reuben King (Service Nos:A216836/8548) Served in the RAAF from 31 January 1940 to 19 November 1945 and was attached to No 112 Mobile Fighter Control Unit (MFCU) at Discharge. Siblings Norman and Florence also served in WWII.

Born in Sydney, NSW in 1915, James was the eldest of six children of Joseph Samuel King (b1894 in Sydney, NSW) and Florence May Gertrude Rawson (b1897 in Sydney, NSW). Joseph (a Packer) and Florence (a Machinist) married in 1912 in Sydney, where they settled and raised their family and Joseph worked as a Packer and Motor Driver.

James worked as a Labourer in Sydney where, in 1934, he married Gertrude Elizabeth Grace Parsons (b1917 in Sydney, NSW). Following his Discharge, James and Gertrude settled at Broken Hill, NSW where James worked as a Driver. They Divorced in Broken Hill in 1963. Gertrude died in Sydney in 1972 and James, who had been living at The Royal Hotel in Redfern, died in 1983.
