Military Medal

'In the operation of 21st September, 1918, near HARGICOURT when his platoon commander was wounded, Sergeant THOMPSON took command of the platoon and showed both dash and initiative. A party of the enemy were seen to entrench, but with great skill he got his men in behind them and took them prisoners. He then cleared the dugouts and trenches in the vicinity, and, reconnoitring furward, was able to give most valuable information. He showed considerable initiative and did excellent work throughout the operations.'
