The son of Robert and Hannah Poole; husband of Effie Gertrude Poole, of West Maitland, New South Wales. A father to three children under five years of age.
After six months on the Western Front with the 54th Battalion AIF, Bert Poole was killed by shell fire in the front-line trenches near Bullecourt and his remains were never found. His wife and three children were all awarded pensions.
