Flying Officer Henry Barton Borwick (Service No:256789) enlisted in the RAAF on 1 September 1942 and was Discharged on 21 November 1945 on ceasing duty with the Air Training Corps. Flying Officer Barton had served in WWI (Captain, AIF) and was awarded the Military Cross. Older brother Sir Thomas Faulkner Borwick also served in WWI.

Born in 1895 in Melbourne Victoria, Henry was the youngest of five children (two survived infancy) of Henry Barton Borwick Snr (b1848 in Oxfordshire, England) and Hannah Mary Watson (b1854 in Ballan, Victoria). Henry Snr and Hannah married in 1885 in Melbourne, Victoria where they settled and raised their family. Henry Snr was an Accountant.

Henry attended Scotch College and Melbourne University where he was an Engineering Student when he enlisted in WWI. Following his service in WWI, Henry settled in Melbourne where he was an Engineer with Vacuum Oil Coy. In 1922 he married Elizabeth Muriel Maddock (b1895 in Portland, Victoria). Henry and Elizabeth settled in Melbourne where Henry worked as an Engineer. Elizabeth died in 1968 and Henry in 1974.
