Warrant Officer II William James Wells (Service No:W4771)) served in the ACMF with HQ VDC from 2 April 1942 to 9 November 1945.

Eldest of five children, Bill was born in Fremantle, Western Australia in 1900 to James Murray Wells (b1876 at Barrys Reef via Blackwood, Victoria) and Elizabeth Catherine Armstrong (b1878 in Geraldton, Western Australia). James and Elizabeth married in 1899 in Fremantle, where they settled and raised their family and James was Grocer in Cottesloe. In 1915 James and Elizabeth moved their family to Mundaring, where James was a Storekeeper until the late 1930s when they moved to South Perth.

Bill worked as an Accountant in Perth, and in 1933 married Lillian Hannah Wallington (b1910 in Perth, Western Australia) - Lillian was working in Mullewa as a Typist. Bill and Lillian settled in Cottesloe, where they raised their family and Bill worked as an Accountant and Club Secretary. Bill died in 1973 and Lillian in 1986.
