Son of Michael O'Connell and Annie Maria O'Connell of Newtown, NSW.
During 1913c William married Margaret Elsie McDonald in Newtown, NSW.
Commenced return to Australia on 31 May 1919 aboard HT Aeneas disembarkation on 12 July 1919 at Melbourne for onward travel to Sydney
