Albert returned to England to join the British Army in WW1 - Royal Army Service Corps (Mechanical Transport)
In WW2 he enlisted in the Australian Army's CMF stating that he was 54 years old, when in fact he was 63 years of age. He did this because the Citizen Military Force (CMF) upper age limit was 60.
