Michael Charles Spring, saw service in both World War One and Two, however did not see any action in WWI as the Armistace was called whilst he was enroute. Michael again enlisted in 1939 as a Temporary Sergeant. He saw active service in the Middle East, Palestine (Rat of Tobruk) and Milne Bay. As the Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM) of the 2nd/24th Battalion, he was awarded an MBE (Military) during action. Michael was a career soldier, his final RSM posting was to the RAASC School at Puckapunyal in 1951, retiring in August 1954. Michael was awarded the 1939/45 Star, Africa Star (1st Army Clasp), Pacific Star, Defence Medal, War Medal and Australian Service Medal.
