Katherine was discharged on compassionate grounds on 20th November 1944

Prior to the war she had been employed for five years in the Dairy Branch of the Department of Agriculture.  Whilst in this branch she learnt every phase of work connected with the working of the Branch including the comuptation of fess of heards recorded under the Herd Production Improvement Scheme, the record system, and prior to resignation she was doing the legal work of the Branch, that is work connected with the Dairy Industry Act and Dairy Supervision Act, and Pure Food Acts, and the prosecution of dairy famers etc.

Katherine enjoyed Swimming, Tennis and Horse Riding.
