Leading Aircraftman Donald Clement Wood (Service No:84507) enlisted in the RAAF on 18 March 1944 and was attached to Pearce TD&R Section when he was Discharged on 22 May 1947. His father - Joseph Mervyn Woods (Corporal; Service No:1628) - served in WWI and brother Colin also served in the RAAF (Corporal; Service No:45813) in WWII.
Born in 1924 in Bunbury WA, Don was the youngest of three children of Joseph Mervyn Woods (b1895 in Picton, WA) and Muriel Saggers (nee Brittain; b1893 in Bunbury, WA). Joespeh was a Mechanical Engineer with Bendigo Brewery in Bunbury WA in Bunbury WA in 1921 when he married Murial Saggers (nee Brittain; b1893 in Bunbury, WA). Joseph had served in WWI (Private; Service No:1628) and Muriel was a Widow with a young son - her husband Aubrey William Saggers (Private; Service No:6813) had died from Bronchitis. Joseph and Muriel settled in Bunbury WA where Joseph was a Mechanical Engineer until his death in 1926.
Following his service in WWII, Don was in Boulder WA in 1948 when he married Shirley Joyce Green (b1928 in Boulder, WA). Don and Shirley moved to Perth where Don worked as a Coffin Maker and by 1954 the couple had moved to Bunbury WA where Don was a Truck Driver. Don and Shirley later lived in Roelands WA where Don was a Garage Proprietor at the Roadhouse, before returning to Bunbury in the early 1970s where Don was a Police Officer. Don died in 2000 and Shirley in 2013.
