Lance Corporal George Walker (Service No:NX31002) enlisted in the AIF on 8 June 1940 as a Private with 1st Corps Ammunition Park. Private Walker was atatched to 7 Division Ammunition Sub Park on 14 September 1940 when he embarked with his Unit from Sydney for Kantara, where he served in Benghazi, Libya before returning to Adelaide on 25 March 1942. Lance Corporal Walker then served with 2/107 General Transport Coy at Adelaide River in the Northern Territory (7 July 1942 - 4 February 1944). On 14 April 1945, Lance Corporal Walker embarked from Brisbane for Morotai en route to British North Borneo, where he served with 2/19 Australian Transport Coy. On 11 January 1946 Lance Corporal Walker embarked from Labuan for Brisbane, and was attached to 2/107 Australian General Transport Coy at Discharge on 1 February 1946.

George was born in Aberdeen, Scotland in 1905 - he gave his mother Margaret as NoK in his Attestation Papers (NAA) - and attended Portlethan School in Aberdeen, Scotland.

In 1930 George was living in Peak Hill NSW and working as a Labourer - he was a Windmill Erector in 1940 when he enlisted in the Army. Following his Discharge, George returned to Peak Hill where he worked as a Labourer. In 1963 in Sydney, George married Forence (Florrie) Isabella McKay (nee Matthews; b1897 at Peak Hill, NSW). Following Florrie's death in 1969, George settled in Macksville NSW, where he died in 1983.
