GOLFER DEAD
MELBOURNE, Wednesday.
Lieut.-Colonel Leonard Dobbin, 73, died at his home at Beaumaris yesterday. He commanded the Sydney Rifle Regiment from 1911 until he was appointed In August 1914, to  command the 1st Infantry Battalion, which he led at Gallipoli in 1915.
He was a joint founder and a life-member of the Royal Sydney Golf Club, and in 1927 he was appointed secretary of the Commonwealth Golf Club, Oakleigh. He was the senior  partner in the firm of Dobbin and Spier, solicitors, of Sydney.

DEATH OF COLONEL
DOBBIN
Lieutenant-Colonel Leonard Dobbin, former senior partner in the Sydney firm of Dobbin and Spier, solicitors, died at his home at Beaumaris. Victoria, recently. He had lived In retirement for'several years. Lieutenant-Colonel Dobbin was born at Dublin in 1868. 
He became a solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales, and senior partner of the flrrn of Dobbin and Uther. Later, he became senior partner of Dobbin and Spier.    
In 1914 he was appointed to the command of the 1st Infantry Battalion. A.I.F.   He was joint founder and a life member of the Royal Sydney Golf Club, of which he was honorary secretary and treasurer for many years.
He is survived by Mrs. Dobbin and two sons, the elder of whom is serving with the R.A.A.P. in Canada.
