Son of John and Ellen (nee O'Brien) Moloney who had emigrated from Ireland in the 1880's. Served at Hamel, Bullecourt, Pozieres, Villers-Bretonneaux and Amiens. Married Doris Ann Newbury on 30 August 1920 at St Mary and St Josephs Cathedral, Armidale and had eight children. On 14 January 1941, aged 52 years enlisted in the 11th Garrison Battalion, at the Sydney Cricket Ground, in the Second World War. (No. N102534). Spent most the the following six years on guard duty at various sites in the Sydney area; discharged, 13 December 1946.
