Corporal Kenneth Samuel Eales (Service No:V5613) served in the ACMF from 23 August 1940 to 28 June 1944 with No 2 Infantry Training School Fyansford, 2/2 Pioneer Battalion and 34 Training Battalion. He had served in WWI, as had his brother Garnet Eales DCM.

Ken was born in Penshurst via Hamilton, Victoria in 1898, youngest of four children of Samuel Eales (b1860 in Penshurst, Victoria) and his second wife Jane Stevenson (b1867 in Cavendish, Victoria). Samuel (a Widow with a young son) was a Butcher in 1888 when he and Jane married in Penshurst, where they settled and raised their family. Samuel worked as a Butcher and Labourer, and was a member of the Oddfellows (MUIOOF) Penhurst from 1879.

Ken worked in Hamilton as a Station Hand, and in 1921 married Florence (Dolly) Fort (b1898 in Hamilton, Victoria). Ken and Dolly settled in Hamilton where they raised their family and Ken worked as a Station Hand, Lineman, Driver and Public Servant. Ken died in 1982 and Dolly in 1986.
