Corporal William John Knuckey (Service No:N100956) served with the ACMF from 30 December 1940 to 16 September 1944. Corporal Knuckey served with 12 Personnel Supply Coy and 1 Australian Maintenance Platoon RAE. He had served with the Citizen Forces (11th Light Horse) from 1911 to 1916 and with the AIF in WWI (Lance Corporal/Driver; Service No:289).

Born in 1895 in Goulburn NSW, William was the youngest of four children (and only son) of William John Knuckey Snr (b1862 in Sydney, NSW) and Janet Guthrie (b1862 in Camden, NSW). William Snr and Janet married in 1887 in Goulburn, NSW where they settled and William was a Railways Employee.

Following his Discharge from the AIF in 1919, William worked as a Carpenter and in 1930 in Tamworth, NSW married Mabel Rose Lowe (b1889 in Bathurst, NSW) - Mabel was working as a Dressmaker in Bondi. William and Mabel lived in Marrickville where William worked as a Carpenter with the Works Department of the Department of Education. William died in 1953 and Mabel in 1965.
