Stanley Charles Francis, son of Mr. and Mrs. S. C. Francis, of Adelaide, was born at Millthorpe, New South Wales, on 31st January, 1894. He was educated at Petersham, Sydney, and joined the service of the Bank on 6th April, 1910, at the Bathurst Street Branch. He was transferred in January, 1911, to Head Office, and two years later to Albury. In December, 1913, he went to Culcairn as assistant, and in March, 1914, to Albury.
He enlisted on 13th March, 1915, and immediately received his commission as lieutenant.
He embarked on 25th June, 1915, and having been wounded returned to Australia and received his discharge on 23rd March, 1917.
