Private Eric Thomas Rose (Service No:W41005) served in the ACMF with 4th Battalion VDC from 30 August 1944 to 31 July 1946. Private Rose's four older brothers also served in WWII.
Youngest of five children, Eric was born in 1926 in Bunbury WA to Thomas Leopold Rose (b1883 at Parkfield in Australind, WA) and Dorothea Brooks Wilson (b1897 in Guildford, WA). Thomas (a Farmer) and Dorothea married in 1917 in Bunbury, WA and settled in Burekup where they raised their family and Thomas was a Farmer. In December 1927 Thomas was killed when his car was hit by a train on a level crossing - Dorothea was left a Widow with five sons under nine years of age.
Barely eighteen months old when his father died, Eric was raised on the family dairy farm - 'Ventonia' - at Burekup, where he was working in 1944 when he enlisted in the ACMF. In 1950 in Bunbury WA, Eric married Thelma (Peg) Joy Mead (b1925 in Australind, WA) - Peg (a twin) was working in Boyanup as a Teacher. By 1954 Eric and Peg had settled in Roelands nr Harvey WA where they raised their family and Eric was a Farmer. Thelma died in 1971 and Eric in 1979.
