Lanc Corporal Bernard Miles Isaac (Service No:V354286) served in the ACMF with 1 Battalion VDC from 1 July 1942 to 7 October 1945.

Bernard was born in Melbourne, Victoria in 1916, fifth of six children of Cyril Everett Isaac OBE (b1884 in Melbourne, Victoria) and Elizabeth Brown (b1885 in Jamieson, Victoria). Cyril (a Teacher) and Elizabeth married in 1907 in Kevington via Jamieson, and lived there and in Bendigo before settling in Melbourne. Cyril was a Teacher in 1916 when he enlisted in the AIF (Lieutenant; Service No:3399), and following his Discharge studied Horticulture in England. Cyril and Elizabeth settled in Melbourne, where they raised their family and Cyril was a Teacher, Businessman, Horticulturalist, Conservationist, Shire Councillor and Politician. Cyril established his Nursery Business (CE Isaac Pty Ltd), and in 1956 was made a Member of the Order of the Bristish Empire.

Bernard was working as a Mechanic in Melbourne where, in 1938 he married Nellie Billing (b1914 in Melbourne, Victoria). In 1942 when he enlisted in the ACMF, Bernard was working as an Aircraft Fitter for the Department of Aircraft Production (DAP). He and Nellie settled in Melbourne, where they raised their family and Bernard joined his father's Nursery Business, working as a Nurseryman until retirement. Bernard died in 2002 and Nellie in 2008.
