Biography contributed by Yvonne Zylstra

Cecil was a country lad who answered the call to serve in 1917. He married the love of his life in October 1917, two weeks before he was shipped out to the Western Front.

On arrival back home in 1919 he and his bride started farming in Dinninup. They were to have 3 daughters.

Cecil was highly thought of in his battalion and in civilian life, being an avid sportsman, community member and JP. Hi family remember him as a quiet good natured fellow who loved his family and country.
