George HAYES was born on 8/7/1898 in Carlton, Victoria.
In 1915 he was working as a labourer when he joined the AIF on 14/6/1915 in Melbourne.
He gave his next of kin as his mother, Mrs. H. Hayes of 101 Stafford Street Abbotsford.
George left Australia on 26/8/1915 as part of the 23rd Battalion.
He survived the war and returned to Australia on 22/5/1919 and was discharged on 15/7/1919.
He moved to Sunbury, Victoria after the war.
During WW2 George enlisted on 28/1/1941 and was given the number V44851. He was discharged on 14/8/1944.
In 1967 he was living at 44 Barkly Street Sunbury.
George died on 2/6/1974 at Sunbury.
