Private James Ellis Bunker (Service No:W71496) served in the ACMF with 6th Battalion (WA) VDC from 26 April 1942 to 19 December 1945. Siblings George, Alan and Harry also served in WWII.
Eldest of eight children, Jim was born in Perth, WA in 1903 to George Edward Bunker (b1876 in Melbourne, Victoria) and Annie Ansit Williams (b1882 in Melbourne, Victoria). George and Annie married in Perth, WA in 1901 and settled in Kalgoorlie and Boulder where George worked as a Fireman. By 1910 they had moved to Mortigallup via Albany where they established Happy Valley Farm and George was a Farmer.
Jim worked as a Farm Hand for his father before moving to Melbourne in the early 1920s, where he worked as a Labourer and Driver. In 1925 he married Madeline Davis (b1901 at Mt Ararat, Victoria) and in 1933 the couple moved to Mortigallup via Albany. By 1936 Jim and Madeline had settled on 'Happy Valley' Farm in Kendenup via Albamy, where they raised their family and Jim was a Farmer. Madeline died in 1946 and Jim in 1960.
